Setting the Scene
At this family BBQ, more than the burgers are getting grilled.
Once a year, the Lee-Jones family gathers for food, fun and familiar dysfunction. The grill is hot, the coolers are packed and every branch of the family tree has arrived for the annual backyard bash.
But beneath the burgers, banter and baked beans, old grudges are simmering, secrets are surfacing and somebody has some serious beef.
Before the event is done, one relative will be dead – and everyone will have to separate the clues from the cookout chatter to catch the killer.
Could it be the cunning cousin with a grudge?
The bitter black sheep ready for revenge?
The spoiled sibling demanding more?
Or the slick politician with secrets to spare?
The steaks are high, the gossip is hot…and somebody is about to get smoked.
Grab a plate, pull up a lawn chair and prepare for family, feuds, food and foul play.
Mavis Lee – Lee Grandparent. After years of building Scrubbles, this practical head of the family is ready to trade laundry loads for retired life. Unfortunately, money – and a few unanswered questions – may keep the spin cycle going.
Lorin Lee – Lee Grandparent. A doting, easygoing grandparent, Lorin is here for family, food, and a stress-free retirement. Clearly, Lorin has forgotten which family this is.
Denver Lee – Laundromat Owner. Used to calling the shots, Denver is juggling Scrubbles, family life, and an upcoming wedding. Just another relaxing day at the family barbecue!
Hayden Rogers – Denver’s Fiancé. Hayden has been dreaming of the perfect wedding and intends to enjoy every fabulous detail. The future in-laws, however, may not be quite as dreamy.
Ezra Lee – Laundromat Worker. Every family needs a rebel, and Ezra is happy to volunteer. A fresh start sounds perfect – assuming a few questionable choices do not come back around.
Court Lee – Laundromat Worker. Court is still figuring out this whole adulting thing and would appreciate everyone minding their own business. In this family? Fat chance.
Andy Lee – Laundromat Worker. Responsible, accomplished, and irritatingly good at life, Andy is the family golden child. Even golden children occasionally get dragged into the mess.
Jamie Lee – Laundromat Manager. If there is a problem, Jamie already knows how to fix it – and probably how everyone else is doing it wrong. Scrubbles included.
Cameron Lee – Real Estate Agent. Cameron always has a plan, a backup plan, and the paperwork to prove it. Too bad family drama rarely follows the fine print.
Noah Lee – Laundromat Worker. Noah is the eager overachiever keeping Scrubbles running while everyone else seems distracted. Working with family also comes with a front-row seat to the gossip.
Reagan Lee – Politician. Give Reagan five people and a plate of burgers and somehow it becomes a campaign rally. This polished politician never misses a chance to work the room.
Spencer Lee – Socialite. Spencer appreciates the finer things in life – fashion, status, and being seen with the right crowd. A backyard barbecue may be casual, but Spencer certainly is not.
Jordan Lee – Intern. Jordan has never met an investment tip or money-making scheme they could not improve upon. Whether anyone wants the advice is completely beside the point.
Hadley Jones – Jones Grandparent. Nobody keeps a family scorecard quite like Hadley. This cranky grandparent has decades of receipts – and plenty of time to bring them up.
Walker Jones – Unemployed. Proud, hardworking, and not exactly suffering in silence, Walker has plenty to say about a recent run of bad luck. Anyone within earshot is likely to hear it.
Robin Jones – Consultant. While the rest of the family argues, Robin is already three steps into solving the problem. Of course, not everyone is going to like the solution.
Juno Jones – Influencer. One viral post away from fame – just ask Juno. This overeager influencer can turn nearly anything into content, including family drama.
Scottie Jones – Former Laundromat Worker. Scottie takes family loyalty very seriously – possibly more seriously than keeping the peace. When this idealist takes a stand, everyone hears about it.
Tate Jones – Tech Guru. Tate is the quirky black sheep who is perfectly happy letting everyone underestimate them. Sometimes being overlooked is exactly where Tate likes to be.
Parker Smith – Tate’s Fiancé. Parker is Tate’s biggest fan and fully committed to creating the perfect wedding. Anything that threatens the big day is going to get noticed.

Excellent Question! And one that needs more explaining, please see the “How to Play” Page of our site and/or download a preview file to get a complete understanding of how our mysteries are run!
Absolutely. We make it easy with two types of downloadable invites:
Before you purchase:
Use our RSVP invitations to invite guests and confirm your headcount (we highly recommend this step!)
After you purchase:
You’ll receive email-ready invitations that include each guest’s character description, so you can assign roles and send everything out in just a few clicks.
YES! As host, you get to decide how much or little you know about the murder.
If you want to play along, you will want to read the host’s guide in full to ensure that you are setting the game up correctly WITHOUT letting you know who the murderer is in this murder mystery party game!
In most Night of Mystery parties, the victim doesn’t sit out—they become the investigator for the second half of the game!
Since the victim doesn’t know who killed them, they can jump right back into the action—questioning suspects, gathering clues, and trying to solve their own murder.
