Planning the Party

I ran a murder mystery of the Ho Ho Ho Homicide and it was spectacular.  The people who played were very engaged and took to their characters from the time they entered the apartment.  Only one person guessed the murderer correctly do everyone did great!

I started planning the event about 3 months in advance and sent about an email every couple of weeks to get the people excited.  3 of us decorated the event space and paid attention to every detail.  There was a picture wall (although I failed to take a group photo) that turned out beautiful.

Since this was a large party about 50 people,  I had put together a mug shot board and used the Kodak Polaroid camera.  I pinned them on a cork board and had everyone write their character on the photo so when people needed to find a particular character they could reference the board.  I also had everyone take their mug shots home for a souvenir.  This was a big hit.  I was at one of the persons house over the holiday and saw the photos on their refrigerator,  that’s when I knew everyone really had a great time.

Food, Drinks & Entertainment

The food and drinks were amazing and we did have home made egg nog that one of the participants made for the party.  I also had a karaoke machine to make announcements and have the speeches read from there so everyone could hear.   It was great as I would make announcements and help spur people into the mood by referencing the egg nog and the naughty reindeers drinking it or some of the characters got on the mike durning the second part and made general announcements like a wedding and Santa announced his pick of who would be in his succession and a few others… it was a hit.

At the end I had some come up and explain their guesses of the murderer and everyone pointed to the wrong person!  I realized everyone had played their roles to the fullest.

The Big Reveal

This was a great success and several people commented that they had participated in past murder mystery’s but none that was a great as this one and gave the comparisons and a lot of it was about how the script and mystery was put together so hats of to whoever put the HoHoHo Homicide script and characters together as my party was a huge success.  Thank you.  I have attached a few photos from the party.  I was extremely busy hosting and forgot to take pictures of the before, group and ending.  I am very sad about that… maybe in the hosting notes make sure to highlight to take a before photo of the decorations and the group (or to designate someone!) for people like me who get caught up in the hosting part (I’m single so no backup!).

Sincerely thank you Christine
