The Spark
Fueled by a love of The Westing Game, Murder, She Wrote, Clue, and Agatha Christie, a passion for puzzles, parties, and plot twists was born.
DIY Sleuthing
When they couldn’t find a mystery party they actually wanted to play, our founders made their own — throwing annual mysteries that friends couldn’t stop talking about.
Night of Mystery is Born
🚨 Launch Day: August 15, 2005
With just 3 original games and a dream, Night of Mystery officially launched. Each kit cost $11, included printable materials, and the site even had a forum where hosts could share photos and party recaps.

Clean Versions Introduced
Because not every party needs adult content — we created family-friendly options that kept the mystery, ditched the risqué.
A Mystery Library Grows
Our game catalog expanded from 3 to 15 titles, with formats to fit 8 to 20+ guests. New favorites like Murder in Margaritaland, Killing for the Crown, and The Juice Joint joined the lineup.
📈 By the end of the decade, thousands of parties had already been hosted around the world.

We rolled out Party Extras and Microsites to help our hosts go all-in on immersive theming — from décor tips to costume inspo.
